Hi everybody! I’m Zach, the outreach coordinator for the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in physics (1995) from Albion College, studied psychoacoustics for my Ph.D. in physics (2002) at Michigan State University, taught college astronomy for three years, and served as a church Youth Director. Now I get to tell everyone about the exciting developments in nuclear science at FRIB!
I certainly wasn’t planning on an outreach career when I was a student, but I’m so glad I found it! Meeting people and telling the FRIB story in many different ways has been a blast. I’ve been able to work with dancers, game designers, filmmakers, and many other creative people to explore the mysteries of the nucleus. I also get to work with 800 awesome people in the lab every day.
