Introductions

Hello hello friends!

This is a space to introduce ourselves and it is linked to the DNP Lifting the shadows session forum space. You are welcomed (but not required!) to introduce yourself to everyone.

Be sure to always practice kindness and respect towards each other

I’ll start, I am Pablo Giuliani, I work at FRIB on many things in research (machine learning, statistics, and their application to nuclear physics), in education and community building (having ice cream with people, and helping them thrive), and in outreach (making the general public excited about what we do here).

I am one of the organizers of the session at the DNP meeting, and I am super excited to see y’all there!

Me next!

Hello, my name is Kyle Godbey (they/them) and I also work at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams! I am currently research faculty at the lab and work on a variety of topics in nuclear dynamics enabled by advanced computing. I really like to explore how the adoption of new computing paradigms can enable better science, but also make that science more accessible and easy to get involved with.

I work a lot with @pablo on various activities (I eat a lot of ice cream) and I’m really looking forward to this session next week. It’s such an important topic and there’s a good chance this is going to become an ongoing event at meetings going forward given the response so far.
