I am Pablo Giuliani, and I will be guiding us all on this journey during the summer
I like collaborative research where various folks bring different things to the table. I usually bring something on the lines of math, Bayesian statistics, and machine learning (with some nuclear physics too).
I love teaching and helping people understand concepts in an intuitive way (that’s what started this course!).
I am also into games (the new heroes of might and magic at the moment), good stories (the Witcher at the moment), good food (having some Venezuelan food leftovers today), and good company (friends, family, and doggie, see below:
I’m Nick Cariello. I’ll be a TA helping out with the Coming up to Speed course this summer!
My research involves creating quantum computing algorithms that help solve various nuclear physics problems. I work with Dean Lee and Morten Hjorth-Jensen in the nuclear theory department. I’m always happy to discuss my research further or talk about the process of finding a research group.
Outside of work, I am in a curling league. If anyone is interested in trying out curling, let me know and I can send you some info when it starts back up in the Fall. I’ll actually be down in Alabama this weekend for a DnD-themed bonspiel (curling tournament). I also love cooking with friends, hosting shindigs and BBQs, and traveling as much as possible. Finally, I have two absolutely wonderful cats, Zym and Iggy!
My name is Natalia Dudek, and I am an incoming freshman at MSU! I will be majoring in Astrophysics & Data Science. I was born in Brooklyn, NYC and later moved to New Jersey in 2020. I am super excited to continue my research career at MSU (and hopefully FRIB)!
Outside of academics I love to paint and create art, go thrifting, exploring new places, and working out. I love hanging out and meeting new people and trying new food along the way!
I have a cavapoo named Misiu (his name means teddy bear in Polish) and he is three years old
My name is Scipio Han and I am an incoming second year student at Dartmouth college, planning to major in mathematics and physics. I was actually recommended this course by high school science research colleague and very good friend, Natalia; I’m very much looking forward to go through this course together and discover the big picture pieces of physics and the mathematical tools behind all of it
Pet! The orange cat: Ruda, means “red-haired girl” in Polish (long story: we adopted her from our neighbor, which is where the Polish name comes from)
I unfortunately will be missing the first class today as I’m recovering from a bit of illness, but shall hopefully be well enough to make it Wednesday; looking forward to delving in!
My name is Olivia Cantrell, and I am an incoming experimental nuclear astrophysics PhD student. I am from Española, New Mexico and just recently graduated with my Bachelor of Physics from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
In my free time I enjoy active hobbies such as intramural sports, hiking or weightlifting. I also love music and going to concerts. Honestly, I’m always looking for a good time. Attached is a picture of a few of my kitties, Brussel Sprout and Sir Henry!
